Career History

 

2006-2007        Established new studio at Wennington ,Lancashire, sharing a space and completing new work and commissions. I was elected to the fellowship of The Royal Society and The Guild of Master Craftsmen.

2004/5              Travelled to South America culturally bridging experience and establishing pottery studio.

2002-2004        Expanded studio and took on apprentices, Newton Holme farm, Lancashire.

2000-2001        Lancaster University, M.A Degree in John Ruskin studies.

2001                 Established studio in Newton, Lancashire.

2000-2001        Green Close Studios, Melling, Lancashire.

2000                 Terracotta candle Company, Lavant, West Sussex.

1998-1999        401 1/2 Workshops, London S.W.8.famous workshops south of the river seen many good     potters emerge from.

1997                 Morley college, London. Ceramics assisted by Jill Crowley and Duncan Hooson.

1994-1996        Lived and worked in New York, visiting and working with potters from Todd Piker in Connecticut to the Stephen Pearce pottery in Vermont and Ron Myers and Michael Simon in Georgia. 

1992-1993        Taught by Barry Guppy in Pimlico Pottery, London

1998-1992        Travelled to Japan visiting and working with many potters, in particular Bizen-yaki and in Mashiko with Shima-Okha.

                         Started studying Japanese language.

1985-1987        S.A.C.I. ( Studio Art Centres International), Florence, Italy. American credits awarded equivalent to a B.A. running ceramic studio, firing the gas kiln and worked on a project with a Florentine artist- Lanfranco Baldi.detailed study and tour of Italian cultural sites.

1985                 The Riccardi Institute of Arts, London, History of Art Diploma.

1980-1985        Wellington College,Crowthorne, Berkshire. U.K. Ceramic tutors were Jason Braham and David Charlton. 'A' level art & design. Awarded the Plaistowe pottery Prize.
